Marble on a Table: A Novel by Eugene Havens is the story of two people who have nothing in common yet somehow, it works. Jaded and no longer impressed by the glitz and glamour of New York City, Rasmus Smith is a 28-year-old man who has seen it all. Nothing excites him anymore and he focuses on living a better life based on his ideals. However, that all changes when he meets Alli. She is everything he is not. They are opposites yet there is something about her that draws him in. Suddenly, he is shown that living separated from the rest of the city is no way to live. Alli is everything he craves in this frigid city, yet the more he clings to his ideals the farther away he gets from Alli. But Rasmus has his ideals for a reason. Is he willing to change himself for love? Is love in the cards for him?

The chemistry between the two is undeniable

How can such different people be so perfect for each other? Opposites attract, but this is something else. Rasmus and Alli are two real characters. They have issues, they have their dreams and they have very realistic reactions. Both of them are idealists and each is not ready to let their ideals go. However, both Alli and Rasmus change with time and their progress is evident in their development. The chemistry between the two is undeniable and they explore it before making any decision. The connection between them is real. Do they act faster than they should? Maybe, but their pace works for the story and makes it even more interesting. Their dilemmas give them individuality and I am sure many people will form a connection with the duo just as quickly as I did. Love is a risk in this story and our protagonists discover it slowly. Marble on a Table by Eugene Havens is a must-read novel for romance enthusiasts who enjoy a heavy layer of plot to accompany the romance element.
